Mthethomusha Game Reserve has its roots in the local culture and offers visitors a glimpse into the rich history of the area due to the wealth of San Bushman rock art sites. There are more than 250 rock art frescoes revealing their interesting native lives.
Mthethomusha Game Reserve borders the South Eastern border of the Kruger National Park and contains 8000 hectares of mountainous beauty offering a rich wildlife ecosystem and a good population of the Big 5. There is also a rich abundance of bird life in the area.
Mthethomusha Game Reserve was one of the very first game reserves to be built on what has become the contemporary approach to community and conservation partnerships.
Established through an innovative initiative by which the local tribal authority gave low potential agricultural land over to the management of the KaNgwane Parks Corporation for optimal and sustainable development. This approach pioneered in South Africa the concept of close community involvement in conservation.
Guests to this region will experience a cultural reawakening with guided nature walks, whilst exploring the wealth of San rock art sites, located in the area and visits to nearby villages, provide guests with insight into the cultures of the local people.
